How can I install SMSBump and are there any setup fees?
Installing SMSBump is completely free of charge and will only take you a couple of minutes. Just follow the steps in our video tutorial. In case you need additional information, visit our Knowledge Base section or reach out to our 24/7 life chat.
Will SMSBump work with my eCommerce platform?
SMSBump is available for Shopify, Shopify Plus and BigCommerce. Additional platforms are coming soon.
Can I send messages worldwide using SMSBump and at what price?
Yes, we offer global support, using only direct high quality routes, so we can deliver your messages almost anywhere in the world, except North Korea. Our rates already include carrier fees - so what you see in our pricing page is what you will be paying!
Do I need to be in the same location as my customers in order to be able to send them text messages using SMSBump?
No, we will be able to deliver your text messages regardless of where your business is based.
How is the pricing per message broken down?
A single message (SMS) contains up to 160 characters. If you exceed this number by anywhere between 1 and 159 characters, the message counter will calculate it as a second SMS and you will be charged for 2 messages. In case you go above 320 characters, you will be billed for 3 messages and so on. You can also add emojis, but keep in mind they’d reduce the total character count from 160 to 66 per message.
Can I send both SMS and MMS?
While you can send an SMS to almost every country in the world with SMSBump, MMS messages are only available for the U.S. at the moment.
An MMS contains 1600 characters, including emojis and special characters. If you go above 1600 characters, please consider sending an email :) All jokes aside, if you exceed this number the message will be cut off at 1600 characters and the rest of the message won’t be sent out.
Are you going to show my real phone number?
Absolutely not. We are using your phone number just to verify your registration or to contact you for urgent matters. It will not be shown to any of your customers.
Can I have a dedicated personal number?
Yes, if you are serious about text marketing and would like to have your own unique business code we can take care of this. Please mind that the whole process takes 6-8 weeks as we need to get approval from carriers.
Can I use my business name instead of a phone number?
Yes, all paid plans support the usage of a business name instead of a number. Yet due to local regulations, some careers do not support this feature. Business name usage is currently available in the United Kingdom, Australia, most of the EU, Cameroon, Georgia, Hong Kong, Ivory Coast, Laos, Macau, Nepal, Niger, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Singapore, Somalia, Uruguay, Zimbabwe.
How can I start collecting subscribers?
SMSBump offers various ways you can collect subscribers. Along with the subscription at checkout, you can enable other on-site opt-in methods, such as pop-ups and embedded forms. The shareable subscribe link and keyword opt-ins are a good addition to your growth tools. And in case you already have a big list of email subscribers, you can ask them to join your text club with our email converter.
Can I bring a list of subscribers from another SMS Marketing service?
Absolutely! If you are migrating from another SMS service, please get in touch with us and we would be more than happy to assist you.
Can I text customers in their local language?
Yes, but keep in mind that special characters such as the German umlaut, the French “Ç”, the Spanish “ñ”, etc. will bring the character count per message down to 70. To avoid this activate our Smart Encoding feature, which automatically converts special characters to their latin equivalents.
How to make sure my text message campaign is compliant?
SMSBump and all our growth tools are built for compliance. However, we strongly suggest that merchants become familiar with all the legal requirements and go through our guides about TCPA & CTIA, as well as the GDPR compliance, and follow all the steps to make sure their opt-ins are gathered compliantly.
All subscriber collection tools come with a built-in compliance text and support the option to double opt-in, just to make sure you are on the safe side. In addition to this, our Strength Meter will remind you to add the obligatory “Text STOP to opt out” ending to all your text messages.
How can I make sure I won’t bother my customers with text messages in the middle of the night?
To prevent this from happening, we utilize Enforced Quiet (or Do Not Disturb) hours for the United States (11:59 PM - 08:30 AM), Canada (11:59 PM - 08:30 AM), India (9 PM - 9 AM) and UAE (9 PM - 7 AM). This ensures that in this specific period your customers will not be bothered with transactional messages, other than the important welcome and subscription confirmation messages.
If you plan to also send messages to countries outside of the above-mentioned ones, you can set your own Quiet Hours from your SMSBump Settings.
Can I schedule my campaigns based on my customers’ timezone?
Certainly! For precise timing, use the Time Zone option which allows you to schedule messages to send out at a specific time for each timezone. If you've set the message to send out at 4 PM, your subscribers will receive it whenever it's 4 PM in their time zone. Keep in mind that you need to schedule your campaign at least 24 hours in advance for the timezone sending to work.
What is Smart Sending and how does it work?
With Smart Sending, you can set a specified time frame that will prevent your Shopify store from sending messages too soon one after the other. The feature will only block text marketing campaigns and automations (such as abandoned cart reminders, customer reactivation messages, etc), but will allow for transactional messages (such as order confirmation and shipping updates) to run as expected.
How often should I send text messages to my subscribers?
If you actively use automations or flows, it is best to initiate 1 additional text marketing campaign per month - with a special discount/sale or around major retail events such as Black Friday/Cyber Monday, Christmas or Valentine’s Day. If you solely send one-off campaigns, it is OK to initiate 2 per month. Remember not to spam your subscribers every other day, but to launch a campaign only if you have something meaningful to say or offer them, such as an important update or a special, time-limited offer.
